A living red-rock storm lifts a white cat with round glasses and a blue book out of a long GPU Valley queue toward a high ridge.

A month in the pack. Then lightning.

A month in the pack. Then lightning. Infinity delivered the day’s biggest score leap among the top-20 teams after sitting on the same score since 3 October. Its latest submission was logged on 1 November at 20:33 UTC. Before 06:00 UTC the next day, a new public reading had hurled it into the top ten. Other climbers have since moved ahead, but infinity still held a high ridge at the dated observation below.

Not new to the top

Infinity has been here before. It reached the leading pack in July and again in September. Then the October notebook wave carried its score upward—and left it sitting still while hundreds of teams went past.

Days of queue trouble, then a breakthrough

Infinity is two people in Ho Chi Minh City: Van-Phuc Huynh, a bioinformatics software developer and Kaggle Competitions Expert, and Trần M. Tiến. In the last week of October, Huynh was in the ARC forums describing runs that scored zero, slow data loading and a submission queue he expected to jam near the deadline. He wrote that he had been giving up solving time just to avoid a zero, and pictured himself “standing in front of my GPU with a pile of plans.” He promised to share his findings if his results improved. Overnight, they did.

The private-board reckoning

The published submission deadline is 2 November at 23:59 UTC. Infinity’s first observed higher score came about nine hours after its latest recorded submission timestamp; those observations do not establish which run produced it or how long scoring took. Public standings are provisional; medals are decided on the private leaderboard. They have seized a ridge near the summit. Can infinity hold it when the private board lands?
