The answer is yes
Qwen3.8-Flash-Next is allowed for competition use, the ARC Prize team has confirmed. For entrants worried that the model’s license could make their hard-won solutions ineligible for prizes, the answer from the organizers is a clear yes.
Replying in the ARC Prize Discord, community lead Permaximum told the questioner: “You can use it. No problem.” When the Flash Next license concern was explicitly raised again, the reply was equally direct: “I said there’s no issue. It’s OK to use it.”

A contender wanted to protect the team’s work
The question came from GMDA60, who identified their ARC2 team as Domdolus Tolus. Its member Darren Amadeus Martin had posted a public Kaggle question asking about prize eligibility in both ARC-AGI-2 and ARC-AGI-3.
The stakes were substantial: Domdolus Tolus stands third on the October 26 ARC2 public board at 82.08. Martin’s post explained that teams had invested considerable effort in Flash Next pipelines and wanted a straightforward eligibility answer before the competition ended.
The concern arose from the relationship between Qwen’s Community License and the competitions’ open-source requirements. Earlier Kaggle discussion had left participants seeking an organizer’s clarification.

The clarification reaches beyond Discord
Permaximum identified himself as part of the ARC Prize team and subsequently said he had taken the issue to Greg, the foundation’s president, who had confirmed it too. The questioner thanked him and explained that the repeated requests were about protecting teammates’ effort.
That is the news for teams following both contests: the ARC Prize team has cleared use of Flash Next. The clarification concerns competition eligibility; the competitions’ other requirements still apply.
